SOR Staff Writer Gregg Snyder breaks down the efforts put forth by former Scarlet Knights currently making a living in the National Football League. Let's jump right into it.
Knight of the Week
Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice put up a worthy effort with three touchdowns, but for the second straight week, our Knight of the Week honors go to Tennessee Titans cornerback Jason McCourty. The Titans topped the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday by a score of 27-10. McCourty led Tennessee with 8 tackles (6 solo) and a pass deflection. He also recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a second quarter touchdown.
As mentioned above, Ray Rice scored three times in Baltimore’s 30-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The Ravens were down 24-6 at halftime before putting together a big second half come back. Rice carried 18 times for 63 yards while catching seven passes for 36 yards, just missing the 100 yard mark.
Courtney Greene was out of Jacksonville’s 24-14 loss to the Houston Texans Sunday. Greene has a hamstring injury.
The San Francisco 49ers continue their surprise season, defeating the Cleveland Browns 20-10. Anthony Davis was in his starting spot along the 49ers offensive line.
Joe Lefeged recorded four tackles in the Indianapolis Colts loss to Jason McCourty and the Tennessee Titans. Lefeged returned four kicks for an average of 16 yards and three punts for an average of five yards. He fumbled once but the ball was recovered by a Colts teammate. Indianapolis remains winless.
Gary Gibson and the St. Louis Rams got their first win in surprising fashion. The Rams defeated the New Orleans Saints, 31-21. Gibson did not record any stats in the game.
The Minnesota Vikings topped the Carolina Panthers, 24-21 on Sunday. Ryan D’Imperio played but did not record any stats.
Brian Leonard and Clark Harris played in the Cincinnati Bengals 34-12 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Harris handled the long snapping duties. Leonard had two carries for seven yards and caught two passes for 10 yards in the win.
The New England Patriots defense continues to struggle this season. Devin McCourty and the Patriots lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 25-17. McCourty recorded 11 tackles in the loss.
Jeremy Zuttah (Tampa Bay), George Johnson (Tampa Bay), and Jamaal Westerman (New York Jets) were on their bye week.
Kevin Haslam (Jaguars), Gary Brackett & Eric Foster (Colts) and Kenny Britt (Titans) are on injured reserve while Howard Barbieri (Texans), Kevin Brock (Raiders), Alex Silvestro (Patriots), and Brandon Bing (Bills) are being used on practice squads.
